Wireless pcmcia setup
I have a Compaq Presario 1270 laptop. I have installed Redhat 9. All works successfully except that I am unable to get my wireless pcmcia card to work. The card is a Cisco Aironet 350 series. The card works successfully on my Win2000 laptop.
Based on searches in the forums so far I have done some checking to see how Redhat configured the system during install. The pcmcia card gives a high and low beep during startup and the status and activity lights on the card glow steadily. In the system log file I find the following: : airo: Probing for PCI adapters : airo: Finished probing for PCI adapters : airo: Max tries exceeded waiting for command : airo: MAC could not be enable When I try the Ifconfig command I get "command not found" message When I use the GUI interface Network Configuaration tool to activate the airo_cs device I get the following: "Cannot activate network device eht1" and "airo_cs device eth1 does not seem to be present , delaying initialization." I am very new to Linux and am just trying to set up an old laptop to experiment. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. |
Maybe you should start with the cisco website where they have not only drivers for the card but a complete linux howto?
