wireless on inspiron600m using 2WIRE homeportal

I am using 2WIRE Homeportal running with windows on my desktop, and I am trying to connect to the internet using a wireless connection with my laptop which is running Mandrake Linux 9.0. My ethernet card is recognized but i do not know how to configure the connection.
as root, in ControlCenter/network&internet/connection, what must I use for the fields
- IP address
- netmask
- boot protocol
- default gateway ?
When I look at the 'status' of the local area connection of my desktop windows machine I find values corresponding to all of these fields. Are those the ones I need to use?
Is that even how I need to go about it?
Thanks for your help!!
