Wireless network problem


i am being using Linux on and off just saw this new distro Mandriva 2006 install it all went well put it fail to install my wireless network aptater , i am crap on linux system my kind of thing is click and install a bit like lindow OS is there a Wireless network tool out there that i can install by just clicking on it


plz help i am total newbie in this

If you give us a bit more info, it might help. What make + model of wireless card is it? Check the HCL on this website to see if other members have been able to get things going and if so, using which drivers. Someone should be able to point you in the righ direction if you let us know the actual hardware you're using.

Okay i am using Emachine Laptop with a build in Wireless network card i think its a 54mB broadcom 54g i need somesort of wireless tool that can dectect a wireless network

Using the search here brought up many post on broadcom 54g. Looks like ndiswrapper is what you want to use. Google for ndiswrapper for the driver and install docs to download. Might goto Mandriva and see if they have ndiswrapper ready for intall on. It may already be installed on your system.

I use the kiwfimanager for scanning for networks.

for broadcom, pretty much your only hope is ndiswrapper. there is no gui that i know of, but the instructions are very detailed.
