wireless mouse remains at top-right corner

On a Dell C600;256mb RAM, installed Linux XP 2006. All seems to be working fine, with one exception: the mouse remains in the upper right corner. It can be moved and it will immediately jump back without any delay. I have used a MS Wireless and a Dell hardwire mouse without any improvement. My pc skills are limited to basic installing & operating of software from an user point of view. Not a tech person.

Any suggestions will be welcomed. Thank you.

I'm going to follow the KISS theory here... check to see if something isn't deflecting the laser on the mouse. Try using a bottle of canned air and spray in there, or just use your mouth. The other possibility is that some is putting pressure on the top right corner of your mouse pad on the laptop. Whether it's your hand or the case, I don't know.

Thank you, Dirk. This sometimes happen when I don't use an external mouse. I have not figured it out either way, but your idea seems logical. I did not have the mouse plugged into the computer when I did the install and decided to plug a USB hub with the mouse with it later. It was the same thing. Sorta stuck up there. I need to read the HELP files and learn more keyboard commands for right now.
