Wireless Issue AMD Turion 64 Broadcom AirforceOne
ok here's the situation... I have a Compaq v2630 (AMD Turion64) With a newly installed OpenSuSe 10.1 x64 image. All is well with the exception of wireless. The intergrated wireless chip is a Broadcom Airforce One (4318) card. I've tried installing three different versions of the ndiswrapper and I get the same error upon insert:
modprobe ndiswrapper FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper .. invaild arugment. ndiswrapper -i bcmw.inf ndiswrapper -l bcmw.inf invaild driver! I've installed ndiswrappers 1.5 -1.7 to no avail. I've tried change the /etc/network/wlan0 interface to no avail. I've worked in Yast and set the ndiswrapper module as the module for the wlan0 card... is there anything I'm missing???? I went to one site and they're saying that in order for ndiswrapprt to work with the Broadcom 43xx, you have to downgrade to the 32bit version of SuSe(OpenSuSe) is this true??? If not, can someone lead me in the right direction ... I can definitly give more details if needed as I've been thru this process a few times. thanks :) |
First if your OS is 64-bit then you need to use the 64-bit driver as listed on the ndiswrapper known working devices list, try using this one;
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/note...bit/80211g.zip $ ndiswrapper -v utils version: 1.8 driver version: 1.16 vermagic: 2.6.16.20 gcc-4.1 $ ndiswrapper -l Installed drivers: bcmwl5 driver installed, hardware present 00:0b.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) Subsystem: AMBIT Microsystem Corp. Unknown device 0312 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 22 Memory at e2000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K] $ uname -a Linux Aspire5000 2.6.16.20 #1 Mon Jun 5 20:01:27 EDT 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux |
