Wireless ExpressCard for FC5
I am doing a project using a wireless card usinf madwifi dricer in FC5.
There question is that I bougth a new notebook. The NB only have one expresscard solt, I want to but one new wireless. I cannot find any wireless expresscard usring Atheros chip. Can anyone tell me, is the world have this type of card? Michael Chung, hcccc |
Availability check any CardBus Atheros chipset WiFi (AR5008.. Express Cardbus format)
Does the NB have any INTERNAL slots for WiFi ? Should be a mini PCI slot, or PCI Express mini card slot inside! Different than CardBus, an externally accessed ExpressCard (similar to PCMCIA) What size is your Cardbus slot??? Have heard there are 2 different widths!
I have been trying to obtain a PCI Express mini card (AR5006EX) since early May! It appears an OEM (Lenovo) had them & some prototype cards were available to lucky individuals or tested late 2005. AR site had listed them since before April (been designed and sent to manufacturer I guess), but were out of stock, or no mass production models made yet. Shipments were supposed to have started in early/mid July 06, arrive in 1 week. Card actually arrived 1 Sept! If an AR5008... fits, you probably will need to wait a couple of months if you are not an OEM assembler, or have contact with! Quote:
