Wireless Drivers on Laptop

I'm relatively new to Linux and I'm having trouble installing the wireless drivers for my built in wireless card.
The installation was really easy but my sound card will not work and my wireless card is not detected.

I did a google search and it seems that many people have got it to work by installing a driver "linux-wlan-ng-0-1.15.

So I found it and downloaded it but what do I do with it now? The instruction on the FAQ's and the readme files are really vague, they assume I have prior experience with installing drivers and this is my first time.

Can anyone offer step by step instructions on how to do this?
Maybe point me to a generic tutorial.

Thanks.

Im using an Integrated Wireless 802.11b Actiontec Prism. It's preinstalled so I don't have much information on them.

Thanks again.

Think you could link to or post the README ?

It's probably merely a matter of compiling some drivers and using modprobe to test them.

Shade thanks for your reply.

Here's a link to the README:

ftp://ftp.linux-wlan.org/pub/linux-wlan-ng/README

Let me know what you think. I purchased a few books; Linux System Commands and Sams Teach Yourself so I should figure it out soon myself. I'm just so use to windows do all this for me.
