Wireless connection disappeared

EEE 901, Ubuntu 12.10

Wireless was working. I left the machine for 20 minutes, and when I returned - no wireless. The wireless icon is empty and its message is Network Disconnected. The wireless light is happily blue. I tried rebooting both laptop and router.

Wired is working.

Do other machines see the wireless signal and connect to it? I recently had a router die and the first sympton was death of the wireless signal.

If the signal is still there, try to rule out the possibility of a hardware problem with the wireless inside the computer: boot to a Live CD of something different, and test the wireless. If it doesn't work under the Live CD, perhaps it is a hardware problem with the computer.

In this sort of situation, ruling out hardware is important, as no software tinkering in the world will fix broken hardware.

Good luck.

Thank you.

Other machines see/use the wireless, and I don't have a live CD of anything so I guess it will have to wait until I can get it somewhere else to test it.
