wireless configuration on Linux-certified style-note laptop - ubuntu 10.04

I have upgraded both my desktop and laptop to Ubuntu 10.04. My old equipment doesn't seem to like higher versions.

The issue I am having is getting the wireless to work on my laptop. Should be simple, but somehow, it isn't. The wired network is working correctly. The wireless modem is an Actiontec PK5000.

The current message I get when I try to connect is:
Error 105 (net: ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED) Unable to resolve the servers DNS address. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

The Actiontec PK5000 is a router; so what's the wireless card on your actual computer?

Are you using the nm-applet in Gnome? Have you changed any settings? It is sounding like you have a misconfigured DNS server. You don't see that problem for the wired internet, too?

What is the contents of /etc/resolv.conf? What is the DNS server setting on your router?

ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED Is the error you see while using Chrome?
