will ATI and Intel video cards work in linux/freebsd?
I am looking around for a possible laptop purchase. In my opinion the best laptops seem to be Dell and IBM. IBM doesn't seem to have any with nVIDIA cards however. Basically, I just want to know what will work if I plan to run Slackware/Debian/FreeBSD on it. I use nvidia on my desktop/workstations and they make good drivers. Will this be the case for the 'nvidia go' models in laptops and how good are ATI and Intel video drivers for linux/bsd?

i am using an ati9200 with xorg6.8.1. works fine as far as i can tell. the machine gets jumpy when playing ut2004, but seems to work fine so far with less demanding 3d games like trackballs and neverball (and cube.sourceforge.net !).
