ubuntu, dell d820, nvidia-glx-new, and configuring with gksudo nvidia-settings. (nvidia-settings gave me grief till I tried glx-new)

Dual monitors is nice - have mine setup to be above my laptop. Till you boot with the laptop outside the dock. The screen is totally messed up; it only shows half!

So, I wanted to just have it blank when you put in the laptop. It works great on boot - till X loads! Then, no matter what I try, I can NOT get the laptop monitor to blank and use the external monitor only.

I could try switching to vesa, but then my openGL is gone.

Any help much appreciated!

My laptop has a key (F5 I think) to use with "Fn" which will send the video to the external screen instead of the built-in one.

Yeah, that is deactivated once the nvidia drivers kick in.
