Unhappy Why cant i install kubuntu from cd on linpus linux????


i have a problem with my asus K501Nseries, i bought it today, and there is a linpus linux installed, i read the other treads an tried to install kubuntu but i don now how to boot or open the cd????????

Now, you gotta be as clear as possible

does it have a cd drive?

what do you mean you dont know how to boot or open cd?

you mean the iso image?

it has a cd drive, i burned the iso image on the cd... but i don't now how to run it, when i type boot cd or something like thath, im gettin the kernel-panic message...

ok
you when you boot after doing a reboot and boot off cd it freaks out?

when you boot up, at boot menu for cd

hit F6 and choose noapic, etc

did you google if theres info about ubuntuus and that computer?

i dont know where the boot menu for cd can be found, i just see boot options... and after typing in it something it is going crazy...

wait

if your using a recent ubuntu cd it should have a boot screen...?

what is displayed when you boot off cd?

ima turning on ther power with the ubuntu cd in the drive...
i'm getting a screnn witch says

RedFlag (2.6.23.1-4_9)


Boot Options: ro root=LABEL=/1 vga=788 resume=/dev/sda2
if i press enter i got the boot localhost
if i tab bootfrom cd or something like that i got the kernel-panic message...

Did you do the md5checksum after downloading the iso image? Did you burn it as an image file at a low speed? Do you have the CD set to first boot priority in the BIOS so that when you reboot, it boots from the CD? You usually will have to hit a specific key on boot (F2, F10, DEL) to get into the BIOS. You can see this when booting, usually on screen for a few second at the bottom of the screen although I've seen it at top right.
