which laptop to buy
Hi guys,
I know posts like mine would have appeared a number of times but getting to know the information first hand has its own value.. Well, Im planning to buy a laptop and after some looking around the IBM Thinkpad R52 seems ok to me. First let me tell you about myself...Im a junior linux administrator into trainig..(just started out)...The R52 has the follwing specs: IBM ThinkPad R52 Windows XP Pro; 1.73GHz Intel Pentium M 740; 512MB DDR SDRAM; Intel 915GM/GMS 910GML Express 128MB; Hitachi 5K100 40GB 5,400rpm... Guys I need your advice.. Thanks Danish |
Well this laptop seems good enough while keeping it on budget. A quick search should tell you whether other people have tried installing Linux on it and what problems you might expect.

a lot of people maybe slam them, but i have to say i really love my thinkpad. next time, though, i'm going to investigate the linux and "custom generic" notebooks, for usually like half the price, i think. there are some sites out there, but i don't have any links, sorry. maybe you'd find something through google.
