Which is the best laptop for linux

Its time for me to buy a laptop. I am fed up with Windows and want to use linux. I have been experimenting with Linux (Mandrake, ubuntu, puppy linux etc) and I do quite like them. :)

I am not sure which laptop should I go for ? Any input on the best (read most compatible) with the popular desktop linux replacement would be appritiated

I use computers mostly for mails and browsing

Hi, refer to this post. It's been discussed there as well.

My HP Pavilion DV4000 (DV4305US) works alright. I've had a bit of trouble with the video card not working right. I had to use a hack called 915resolution to get 1280x800 (the native resolution, ther's some problem with the vbios, but that hacks easy to use, so its not a big prob, it was just a stumbling block because it took a while to figure out that that's what was wrong), and I still can't get 3D accelleration working with it, but I'm not a big gamer. This model has the Broadcom internal wireless card, unlike the other more common model with the Intel internal card, but I got it to work with ndiswrapper... the center light doesn't come on with the wifi card anymore though, but I may use that for something else, like code something to use it as a notification for Gaim messages... that'd be nifty. Sound card works good with alsa, modem works with the sound card's driver (found right under the sound cards thing as a module in kernel config), USB works. I havn't tried the DVD-RW drive under linux yet, so I am unable to comment.
