Which Device

I recently installed Ubuntu 7.10 on a friend's Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop and noticed that it listed hard drive devices as /dev/sda. Is this that new device listing that some distro choose even though the hardware is a ATA drive and not SATA?

Just curious to know which one does the laptop have installed.

Also, does anybody know what is the maximum size hard drive can be upgraded with?

Thnx.

Yes, they made a change on the kernel driver used to control the disk.
Code:
pata_amd 31876 4
libata 164352 1 pata_amd
scsi_mod 176536 5 sr_mod,usb_storage,sg,sd_mod,libata
