what to connect first?

Hello,
and I apologize for my non-linux question, but anyway:
what do you have to plug in first (for the sake of your lappie I guess): the power cord to your laptop, or the power cord to the 240 Volt powernet (I honestly don't know what's the word for it in English :-))
First option seems the most reasonable to me, but a friend of mine is highly convinced of the second one.
Who pays for the beers?
thanks,
fung

Hi.

I would plug the power pack into the 240v first.

There's no real reason, other than if you plug in the laptop first, it will drain the battery (but only very, very, very slowly) until the 240v is plugged in. You're also less likely to get power spikes if there's no load on the power pack when you plug it into the mains, but again it's not something to lose sleep over.

In other words, do what you like.

Dave

P.S. I'll have one of those beers too.
