Smile What Distro to run Cinelerra on Alienware Area-51M 7700?

I have an Alienware Area-51m 7700 with the AMD Opteron CPU and 2GB RAM.
I want to do video editing running Cinelerra.
I am wondering if anyone has tried this on Alienware laptop hardware lately and what Distro they had the most success with.

THANKS!

Ron

That's exactly what I have. lol. Rock on bro. I haven't tried any video editing on it yet, but I just switched from SuSE 10.0 to Ubuntu Breezy Badger 5.10. To be honest I like ubuntu a lot better than any distro I've run.

I am now trying to install Gentoo.
My SuSE 10 installs freeze every time, both 64 and 32 bit.
NLD (SuSE 2.6.5-7.252 kernel) installed nicely but has some old packages and dependencies I don't want to play with.
I'll have to take a look at UBB. I have never heard of it. What do you like about it?

Gentoo was too much work to get configured so I went to Fedora 4.
It supports x86_64 but does not run hardware RAID (I have two 100GB drives set up as RAID 1 in the BIOS), but software.
I want to run Cinelerra and the build I used was made for Fedora 4.0.
