Weird screen problems on a Dell D820

Hello. I just got a new Dell laptop for christmas that's set to dual-boot Windows and Mandriva LE 2005. It installed just fine, but when I booted to KDE, the screen looked as if it was zoomed in. The monitor's default resolution on WIndows is 1920 x 1200 Wide, so I just assumed that it was because the resolution was too high. So I went in and looked at the monitor options and the highest resolution I set it to had the same error. Is there a way to shrink the screen so it all fits on the the monitor? Thanks.

You surely have a virtual screen, if I understand your question right. Backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, then edit it and comment out a line _like_ this: # Virtual 2048 1280 (that resolution will differ, surely).
