Weird Battery Monitor with FC6 and Acer Aspire 5601
I have installed Fedora Core 6 onto my Acer Aspire 5601, and it works well, except the battery monitor appears to be broken.
When I am on battery power, it only reports how much battery is remaining to the nearest 33%, and with that gives a life of either 1 or 3 hours. When it is plugged in and charging, it gives more accurate figures (closest 15-20% or so) and with that says that if I was to unplug my laptop, it would have a two minute life. I have made sure that I have the correct kernel architecture for what it should, an i686 kernel installed. What is causingt his problem and can anything be done to rectify and fix it? |
Please install the acpitool rpm package from Fedora Extras, as root type from the console or xterm session; yum install acpitool
And if have not done so also do; yum install updates After you done installing from the console or xterm session type; acpitool -B Are the results a bit better and more clear to understand?? You might want to check here and see if a BIOS update fixes the problem; ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/note...pire_5600/bios . |
Ok, I installed acpitool and it gave me the correct information for my battery. I also ran yum update to make sure that everything was up to date and was, but I still get the incorrect information on the gui one. Is there a way of making the gui one show the same as the acpitool -B as I would rather not have to type that command in all the time when I want to check the battery life?
I would rather use the gui one if it would somehow work. |
