wavelan_cs not present on Acer laptop S5582

Hi Linux friends,
My Acer laptop is running on a RH9.
I did a kernel compilation to the kernel 2.4.22 with some support for IPv6

From then the problem with my Lucent Wavelan PCMCIA card arised.
Sevice PCMCIA is running ( also restarted ) but the card is not blinking as normal
After adding the card as eth1, activating it and the error appeared as :

Wavelan_cs device eth1 doesnot seem to be present, delay initialization.

Another problem was : at booting up, if the Ethernet cable is not plugged in,
then it says :
8139too does not seem to be present....

What's wrong with it ? and how do I fixed it ?
I really appreciate your help
