want a lightweight distro/machine
im looking to make a very light machine to simply record my thughts onto and then sync with my PC at home at the end of the day. Im a college student and if i want to get online during the day there are more than enough computers available. the reason i want my own computer is that i go through alot of notebook paper and would like to use a computer to take notes because i can type faster than i can write, Also i can immediately go back and rearrange things to make them logically ordered whereas doing this on paper is not easily done.
Basically im asking what distro should i use and what minimal hardware specs should i look for in a laptop. At the lowest level i want to be able to transfer text documents (or maybe even PDF) to a Win XP com[uter at the end of the day whether it be with a network cable or flash drive. I want to be able to produce the files to. I would also like to be able to use the computer as a filestore for CAD drawings.
Oh and im sort of well versed in Ubuntu by trial and error and thats all i have for Linux experience... willling to learn if it means saving some $$$.
