Hey all

In this i have an ati rage mobility. its not a beast, but it lets me do stuff like watch dvds, and run cool screensavers

thing is, i cant get it working, i tried going into the xorg.conf and changing the driver to r128, but when i tried to start x, it told me it couldnt find any device

so now i guess i need to get the driver, but ati's website doesnt have it anymore, the only place i could find it was from dell in rpm package

what should i do here? thanks :)

alright, heres a status update

i downloaded the rpm from dell's support site, and it seems it just extracts a conf file that i can use instead of the default x conf file. problem is, it doesnt have any drivers attached to the devices, so much for that.

so now im in a dilemma. i tried recompiling the kernel and included the r128 driver right into the kernel (i also tried it as a module), but every time i try to startx, i get an error that no devices were found, and no screens were found, im really at a loss now

any ideas are greatly appreciated :)
