Vaio TT + hda intel = microphone does NOT work
Hi guys,
I finally trashed vista from my pc (sonva vaio tt50B) it was too slow.
Now I am having some minor issues. One of them I would like to solve it.
It is the integrated mic. I cannot use it.
as I have HDA intel sound card i followed the wiki on the alsa website but t does not work.
Code:
teo@teo:~$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec

I have the same audio controller (almost):
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)
Here's how I enable the mic:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...0/#post3367818
It isn't quite as easy as I thought, but my mic doesn't work unless I do that.

Thank you for your reply.
I tried what you proposed but the situation does not change
I did this
Code:
1) Run alsaconf, then open alsamixer
2) Press <Tab> until you get to the View: [All]
3) Press <Space> on Capture the bottom will turn red and say L R Capture and increase the volume on it
4) Unmute Analog Loopback (press <m>)
The point 3 it was already red and sating L R Caputure.
The point 4 i do not have Analog Loopback
I do not do what else can be done.

Weird, maybe you don't have the right modules inserted, maybe post the output of 'lsmod'.

How about other microphones do they work ? Maybe it's just the internal / integrated mic isn't supported yet.

i could not try but I did the upgrade to ubuntu 9.04, and I noticed that (maybe it was already doing it before) the microphone actually is working BUT the volume is really really really low. If I scream I can hear something....almost nothing but this means that the mic is working. Now the problem is how can I increase the volume? everything is already set to the max. I don't know what else can be done

It might be something hardwired, is there a button on the laptop keyboard that controls volume regardless of operating system ? I've had things like this on some laptops.

It might be something hardwired, is there a button on the laptop keyboard that controls volume regardless of operating system ? I've had things like this on some laptops.
i have the 3 bottons: up volumo, down volume and mute on the laptop. But even if I put volume to the max nothing change. I mean nothing change for the mic only if I listen a mp3 the volume goes up.
One more thing if i put the volume of the mic booster to the max when i record and when I listen I have something like shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (this sound).

Yeah, the mic booster is useless, it just introduces noise. Sorry, but I can't think of anything else to try.
