Hello all,
I am having a spot of trouble getting the install going on this Sony Vaio(PCG-Z505HS). I am installing from the Cardbus attached PCGA-CDRW51. After the initial splash screen I put in the boot option "linux ide2=0x180, 0x386". It starts accessing the cdrom and then the Boot Loader returns the following error:"Could not find kernel image: initrd=initrd"
Oh, This is a SUSE 10 distro from the 5 cd set.
I had an old sony vaio with that pcmcia cdrom and I found that what I gave you would work with some distros but not not others. You might try other distros. IIRC, I could get the livecd, knoppix to boot with those options, i.e.
Ok, thats what I did. Fedora Core 4 finished the install without requiring the ide2=0x180,0x360. Running well, so far. I may go back and revisit the Suse problem at a later date, but for now this is solved. Thanks for the advice.
