Use Blackbox with 1 button mouse?

Hi everyone

New guy here. I'd like to re-install Slackintosh 11 on my iBook G4 in a few weeks (I had it on last weekend, but switched back to OS X because I have a few final papers due and I don't have time to tinker in Linux).

When I was running Slack, I used the KDE window manager, and I wasn't crazy about it. I would like to try Blackbox (one of the window manager options when setting up Slack), but my laptop only has 1 mouse button.

Does BB support Ctrl-click from the get-go?

If not, can I create a right-click keyboard command using the command line before running X?

Or should I just install Slack with a borrowed mouse, run X, create the right-click command in the GUI, then go back to using just the trackpad?

Thanks for your help.

I could be mistaken, but I don't believe Blackbox handles bindings directly. I think it uses something called bbkeys... I use xmodmap to perform my bindings.

If bbconf isn't already installed (http://bbconf.sourceforge.net/), try it out and see if it does what you need. I've never used xmodmap to simulate a mouse button, but it might be possible. I know how to bind a combination of a keyboard key and a mouse button to a certain action, but the action wouldn't be context sensitive.

If you're into patching, then this might be the solution for you. It modifies the source code for your specific purpose: http://blackboxwm.sourceforge.net/Bl...eMouseBindings

From the name, I'd guess Slackintosh is based on Slackware, and that patching and compiling from source aren't foreign to you. I hope I've been of help; I'm experienced with Fluxbox, but I'm very limited in my knowledge of Macs and one-button mice. Good luck with your endeavor.

Thanks for the response bmartin. But I'm actually new to Linux, and I've never patched or compiled everything.

I just partitioned my hard drive last night, and I'm running OS X and Slackintosh 11 with XFCE as my window manager. This way, I can work on fixing some things in Slack (like sound, wireless, etc) while retaining the functionality of OS X for school.
