USB Sockets Inactive on ThinkPad R61i

I have Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy installed on a brand new ThinkPad R61i (Dual Core processor, gig of ram). This laptop has two USB slots on the left side, and one on the right side. The one on the right works fine, but the two on the left do not appear to function at all. It looks like there are two USB hubs in the output from dmesg, so it is acting like the ones on the left are on a different hub than those on the right.

I googled this, and searched here, but the only reference to this problem was one other Ubuntu user who had the same problem but no solution.

Is there a way to manualy configure the second USB hub?

Hi

I dont have an exact answer for you. I have an IBM t40, with Ubunutu 7.04 installed
my usb ports work with my usb mouse, but not with my thumb drives. What I have read
in the forums is that it is a mounting problem. I looked for the thread that tells
how to fix it, but did not find it. I think if you search "USB" you will find the
thread.

hope this points you in the right direction

Vanessa
