Unable to use external speakers under Mandriva 2008.1 on Amilo Pi 2530
When I try to play any audio, the sound is produced by my internal laptop speakers, instead of my external speakers. When I go into KMix, I can see that the volume for Headphones (which I'm assuming is the line out of my sound card) is set to full and is not muted. When I use KMix to fiddle with the settings for my internal speakers, this works fine, but the settings for my external speakers have no effect.
Under Windows XP, the use of my external speakers is regulated by a Realtek program. I think it was called Sound Effects Manager or something like that. I do not know that it is necessary under XP that I use this manager to use my external speakers, but I do know that it works. Perhaps my audio card expects this software.
If anyone knows more about this, please let me know.

What I mean is if I open kmix it gives the option which speakers I use
I can use four speakers left and right back speakers left and right front speakers and center
So kmix has the option to adjust this volumes and the computer speaker
But may be this option depends on the sound cart
Indeed, I do not have that many options. I can adjust volume for Master, Headphones, PCM and Front, but none of those settings have any effect on my external speakers.
I apologize for the double post, but I feel this is worthy of a new post.
I updated my ALSA drivers. Now my external speakers do work, but still not as I would like them to. While my speakers do produce sound, so do my internal laptop speakers. I cannot shut this off. When I fiddle around in Alsa mixer, when I edit a setting that changes the volume for the external speakers, it also changes the volume for the internal ones. I cannot separate them. Also, my internal speakers have a much higher volume than my external speakers, so if I want to let my internal speakers be nearly muted, I have to turn my external ones way up. Does anyone know how I can get around this?

There is a other solution , but that is more a technical than a software solution
IF you put in serial with the internal speaker a resistance of let say 8 Ohms and 20 Watt it reduce the sound of the
internal speaker with half
But please be aware off static electricity .
But please do not make short circuit it will blow up you,re amplifier
I do not how you know about electro stuf
