Unable to install Fedora 8 in my Dell Inspiron 1420

I m having Dell Laptop inspiron 1420 with SATA HDD, problem is that i m installing Fedora 8 but it shows that no hdd found and it gives /dev/hda to ramdrive or DVD drive. how to install fedora in my laptop.

Another problem i want to install in my usb drive rather than laptop and want to run always from that usb drive, i m unable to setup plug n play OS in bios how to do it. tell me guys how to install fedora in my USB HDD and how to Setup Bios for Plug n play OS.

scrap me asap

If you start why not with Fedora 9 it newer so it is likely that it detect the Sata drive out of the box
What do you mean setup BIOS for Plug and Play I only knew from a other OS .
If you have a USB drive anaconda give you the option to install on the USB drive If its recognize the USB drive
and also will ask you where to write GRUB
