I am a newbie who excitedly just installed Ubuntu on my Toshiba 2655XDVD laptop. I have a 802.11g Linksys wireless card that Ubuntu doesn't seem to recognize. How do I get it to internet capable? It is probably a simple solution but I have no clue yet. Please put how to terms as simply as possible. Thanks, Jay

You have to use ndiswrapper with the windows drivers on your CD.

I will try your link to Ndiswrapper.29, read the text if there is some and try to use whatever software is required for the card to work. The card is a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter 2.4 Ghz 802.11g model No. WPC54G version 2. Assume that I know nothing about LINUX with your replys. Went to the link to the Ubuntu Ndiswrapper that you suggested. It directed me to go to add/remove applications tab and search for Ndiswrapper. I could not install it because I don't have an internet connection for the laptop in question up and running. I am writing to this forum via a "Dark Side" computer. I will attempt to find and download Ndiswrapper, burn it to CD and then install it on the laptop, then the Linksys drivers. If I am going to really pooch it or you have a better idea, let me know? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the quick response and warm welcome.

I tried to burn to CD the Ndiswrapper 1.47 from their site using InfraRecorder. I figured that it should be kind of like downloading the ISO image of Ubuntu. I guess I was wrong because I couldn't get the laptop running Ubuntu to recognize the CD. I can't download it off the internet because I do not have my card working yet. I am just stabbing in the dark hoping to get something right. I read the help menu to no avail. Ugh!
