I had been fighting with my wifi on this new netbook for a while now.
I did install the driver re8192se. I actually sent an email to realtek and they were kind enough to send me back the driver.
The output lsmod | grep re8192se_pci told me that the driver was installed and up and running. I was using wicd and that did not help. I loaded the drivers in /etc/modules.
I realized that everything was working fine and no issue whatsoever but my wifi card never actually scanned for wifi networks.
In last resort, I went back to gnome network manager and all worked very well.
wicd was actually causing the issue. Most of all, everytime I reboot the wifi is up and running without the help of the script mentionned here -->
