Question ubuntu On DELL Latitude | D800

I have bought a Dell latitude D800,Will the regular desktop version will work on it or do I need some laptop edition?

With 512MB RAM and 1.8 GHz CPU, one would be better served with something like Mint9-LXDE-2010 or even better, performance-wise, antiX-M8.5-i686 (still Debian). KDE and Gnome will slow such a configuration down.
