Ubuntu 7.10 won't install on HP Pavillion
I have been trying to install the new Ubuntu Gusty on an HP Pavillion (new I forget the model number; will get it soon) and so far have had nothing but problems. First the standard install would freeze, giving error messages before even loading the Live CD. I got the alt-install and was able to get the ball rolling; for a short while though. The computer would freeze up quite often, then I rebooted and the real issue began. I could not get any successful boot, even going into a verbose boot. So far the ONLY gui install that worked was Mandriva 07, all the other (like two) distros that I tried were failures.
Any advice? The laptop is not old, it is roughly a year old so there shouldn't be any issues with the graphics. Thanks, -Monty |
