Ubuntu 10.04, NetBook vs DeskTop on Asus EeePC 1005HA

The Gnome screen on the Netbook version of 10.04 does not appeal to me; is that the only change or is it otherwise optimised for performance, will the DeskTop version be satisfactory on the 1005HA, especially as it has long term support?

Are you talking about the Netbook Desktop being not appealing.

If so. Log out. At GDM Login screen. Hit the sessions button after typing in user name to login.
Select Gnome from Session selection. Finish logging in. It will stick unless you change sessions again in Login Window.

If wanting KDE Instead. Install through synaptic pkg mananger and select kde from sessions in login window again in GDM (or KDM if chosen during KDE install)
