Ubuntu 10.04 3d graphics on ATI Radeon - Getting 3D up and running.

I have a Lenovo Z575 Ideapad laptop with RADEON graphics. 10.04 works but no 3d effects and low graphics capabilities. 11.04 and 11.10 do not see the graphics and I only have a black screen! Any help would be appreciated. I love copying and pasting code in terminal but I can't find anything on the forum that works.

Open the drivers application and install the proprietary drivers. The integrated graphics of the laptop is not well supported from the free drivers currently.

Tried that first thing......does not report any drivers available. Thank-you for your reply!

That could mean that the AMD drivers available in 10.04 are simply too old to support your graphics chip. In that case I would recommend to upgrade to a more recent release.

Please mention the exact setup of graphics.

I found a forum thread with lots of useful information. You should be able to find some troubleshooting tips in there that will help you.
