Trying to boot up on Live cd

Hey guys
I'm having problem booting up from Live cd, tried both Ubuntu and Fedora but my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to just wont boot up from my DVD drive. I downloaded Live CD's from their websites and burnt it on a CD, I have already gone to change the boot scan for to start on the dvd drive. Also tried boot menu but it didn´t work have you any ideas for me?

How did you burn the CD's ? Did you verify the md5sums? Have you tried the CD's on another machine? For help on burning and verifying md5sums, go here --> http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO

and follow the instructions.

Thank but I tried to follow that link and it came up with "acces denied"
