Yes, I think its doable, after searching Google for about 3 hours, but I cant get mine to work.
I have a Dell TrueMobile 1150 PCMCIA card and an Inspiron 1100. I would like to introduce my laptop to the linux world as I have with my desktop, but its not liking the transition. Does anyone know how to configure the 1150 in Mandrake 9.2? If you need to see some system info, let me know, I dont know what would be of any use.
If I'm not mistaken the card uses the standard Orinoco chipset.... but I'm not 100% sure.
I'll try tomorow at work (time permitting of course )
I'll see what can I do!
ok I just checked my config, and I do in fact load the orinoco_cs drivers or so I believe. I just cant connect to my hub. is there some where I gotta go in my system to start the service?
Sorry I didn't have any time to test.
But if your card is loaded then try opening a terminal and then typing neat as root, or system settings -> network, then add or "new" a new hardware, choose wireless connection and there it should give you that chance to configure the wireless card.
Sorry about not being able to test the config. today, I had a hectic day :-(
Hi there, I conferm what I sayd... I inserted the card and heard 2 beeps, then going in/under network settings, created a new connection and chose the wireless card.
All went well, I got my IP from the DHCP :-)
him if it is that easy, I guess Ill look in mandrake some more, because I havent seen anywhere where I can simply create a new connection and configure my wireless card..
I do get the two beeps though and since you got it working, I have hope in it.. Thank you
