Touchscreen newb question

I am in the process of switch an old pentium 1 tablet from win 95 to linux.

I am stuck right now trying to figure out how to setup touchscreen.

Right now with win 95 everything is stylus driven.

No keyboard. No mouse. No usb. No Cd. No floppy.

It does have a connection for a keyboard.

I figure if I can get linux onto hard drive. I can use keyboard to setup X.
I am not sure what to do to get touchscreen working.

This tablet is an old order pad made by some obscure company. I looked everywhere to see if somebody had already attempted with the same machine.

Regards,
Blair

Gee, good luck. Does the tablet have a connection for an external keyboard, CDrom?

hmm... seems like we're in the same boat... does your system have a pcmcia slot?

If so you can try getting hold of a pcmcia cd rom drive...

But for the touch screen... I have no Idea. but please let me know if you get to solve it.

They make pcmcia cd roms..
You learn something new every day....
I got Vector 4.3 on the hd last night.
Tonight I will install it in the tablet.
I will let you know how it goes.

There are touchscreen modules out there I just don't know which one to use.

Blair

I hate to keep posting to my own thread,but......

I have been trying to figure out how to get the touch screen working.

I have been messing around with Xfree, but I am not sure what driver to use.

How could I find out what kind of touchscreen it is?

How do I determine the devpath?
default is /dev/ttyS0

In Server Layout what would I put there?

InputDevice "identifiername " "SendCoreResults" #(???????)

In modules would I just put
Load "drivername "

Section "InputDevices"
Identifier "identifiername "
Driver "module name"
Option "Device" "/dev/ttyS0" # (?????)
where would I find the rest of the options that go with Input Devies?

I am pretty sure nobody will answer this but I figured I would try.
I have looked everywhere for xfree sample for all the drivers, and info on the drivers.to figure out which one might work 4 me.

Regards,
Blair
