Touchpad Stopped Working After Ubuntu Update - System also Freezes after Suspend

I tried the common fixes yet I'm still not having any luck getting my touchpad to work again. It worked fine after the initial install, but after an auto-update a couple days later it stopped working. I'm on an Asus c200.

Checked dconf, touchpad is enabled.

Tried:

Quote:
echo "options psmouse proto=imps" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf
The file is created with those settings, but didn't solve the issue.

When installing the drivers via:

Quote:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
I get the following

"The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics : Depends: xorg-input-abi-20
Depends: xserver-xorg-core

E: Unable to correct problems, you have broken packages."

Update:

I was able to boot into the system once and the touchpad worked. Upon restarting, it stopped working again. My system also freezes after suspend, not sure if that's the result of the official updates I downloaded, or the modifications made above.

Try

Code:
sudo apt-get --fix-broken
sudo apt-get clean
and let us know what happens.

No luck there either, I tried the following commands

Quote:
sudo apt-get --fix-broken install
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get autoclean
Full reboots as well. I'm also getting a lot of artifacts on the Ubuntu boot and shutdown screens that weren't present before. I think this update really botched something deep. I've also already reinstalled the OS after this happened the first time I downloaded the updates.
