Question Touchpad reacts slow after installing Intrepid Ibex

Just installed Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex on my wifes Dell Inspiron 6400 all is working OK except the touchpad has to be hit quite hard before it reacts, under the pre-installed XP it was very sensitive. Also, she says that she used to be able to set the vertical scroll and it kept scrolling until she stopped it. This function is now missing.
Please, Any suggestions how to fix this anyone?
