Touchpad and Debian

I installed Debian Woody with no problem. I am using a Compaq Presario 1200 and I can`t make de touchpad work with KDE.
I configured xserver and xf86config to be able to see the mouse on /dev/ttyS0, but when I get into X the mouse still doesn`t work. Also tried with /dev/ttyS1, S2 and S3. And /dev/mouse too.
The Xfree86 log just says that it couldn`t find /dev/ttyS0 (and so on)

What am I missing? Any ideas?

Well, I fix it using /dev/psaux. But the problem now is that instead of the normal arrow pointer I have a square of 1inch per side, wich sucks.
Anyone knows how to fix this?
