Touchpad and battery status <>Mandrake 10

I am using mandrake 10 community. I have 2 problem. Touchpad and battery status are not working. I have installed synaptics. synaptics_drv.o file is in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/input.
I entered /etc/X11/XF86Config file but the synaptics driver is not in there. I hane no these problem when using fedora core 2. How can fix this important features.

If I could edit XF86Config myself, is it possible to work?
