I know there are a lot of threads about 2.6.x touchpads but as my situation is pretty weird I haven't found a thread answering my question.
Has anyone gotten a touchpad, along with tapping, to work straight of the box on a 2.6.x kernel?
I used to use a 2.4.23 kernel and the touchpad needed no configuration whatsoever to get it working along with tapping.
Now just recently I compiled a 2.6.5 kernel on my laptop and the touchpad tapping stopped working. I can still use the touchpad and use the buttons beneath it but that's very uncomfortable and with the left touchpad button being as stiff as it is, it only works around 3/4 of the times I press it.
I guess, what I'm really asking is what are the specific kernel options you need to be able to use a touchpad with tapping? I don't have my 2.4.23 config anymore since I did a fresh install so I can't compare it with my 2.6.5 config.
Also, here's my X86Cpnfig-4 (Or to be more accurate. It's mouse settings.)
Code:
#Section "InputDevice"
# Identifier "Configured Mouse"
# Driver "mouse"
# Option "CorePointer"
# Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
# Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
# Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
# Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
#EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection
It's totally unchanged as I copied it before I reinstalled Debian. What's funny, though, is that the USB mouse was working. With it's section commented out. Now, it doesn't work at all. Even uncommented. I guess I could use help regarding that too.
Any effort whatsoever towards helping me solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
