Toshiba Satellite Pro 420 cds

I am trying to install linux to a
Toshiba 420 cds with 24 MB ram and a cdrom but the bios only allows fdd or hdd boots.
I tried Debian. Using Lowmem and the regular install it was able to find the pcmcia card but failed to install.
I tried the lowmem Debian. I was able to partition the disks but I wasn't able to successfully access the pcmcia card.

I tried Slacware 11 and 8. No luck with loading pcmcia.

Any ideas on getting the pcmcia ethernet card that uses a yenta cardbus driver.

I saw a few threads similar to this. However, they seemed to have more ram.

It seems that there is a Linux distro adapted for Toshiba (old) Laptops. I've seen it mentioned but haven't found it.

Thank you.
