Toshiba satellite m70 cl1 Wont take any distro of linux?
I have tried for days with mint 10 lubuntu ubuntu!

Did you tried Red Hat/Fedora? if not pl try the distro :)

Mint 10, Ubuntu, Lubuntu... 3 views of same egg. If Ubuntu has a problem with hardware, all three will have the same, because they are just wrappers on user-interface level.
Try something different, like Debian/Mandriva/Fedora/Slax(?) to check what they do with your hardware. And then decide which one to choose. PS. You can have some reviews of different distros in my blog |

Once I did that I was able to install and get a pretty nice running system. It would be great to see ACPI supported properly on the A665, but I can live without it for now. Give that a try and if it works. If it does work, once you get installed you will need to add this line to /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet acpi=off splash" That will keep it turned off every time you boot up. Good luck. |
