Toshiba Satellite M35 series with NVidea GeForce FX Go5200

I'm trying to install Fedora Core from the CD I obtained with "Linux for non-geeks". The instructions tell me to select a graphical install by selecting <ENTER>. If that doesnt work, try "linux lowres<ENTER>". If that doesn't work try "linux nofb<ENTER>". All three give me vertical lines on my screen and the following screens are illegible. Therefore, I can't load linux on my Toshiba Stallite M35 laptop with the NVidea GeForce FX Go5200 video adaptor. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The card should be no problem so it might just be a fedora quirk. If your lcd screen is some unusual size, that can be causing problems. If you have broadband, you might try downloading knoppix, a linux livecd that writes nothing to your hard drive. You just burn the iso as an image and boot off the cd. Knoppix has excellent hardware detection and if you have trouble there, it's likely there is something unusual about your hardware that is causing porblems. Here's a link describing one person's experience installing mandrake 10.1 on your laptop you might find helpful:
