Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 dmesg?

My folks just bought a new laptop and are wanting me to put linux on it. I have not seen it yet, but it seems to have a new atheros wireless card on it.

I cannot seem to find what card exactly it is though google or anywhere!

I have heard some success with ndiswrapper (which would be fine for them) but madwifi is not yet recognizing the card (acording to their site). My question stems from some discrepancy over which atheros b/g card is in the computer (AR5BXB63 or AR5006EG).

I would like someone who has this laptop to please post dmesg and or lspci outputs so I can tell for sure what hardware they really have.

Thanks.
MR

So I keep replying to myself :) That is fine - I hope this benefits someone. I was successful using the ATI driver fglrx 8.40.4 for graphics and ndiswrapper 1.9 and the Windows XP wireless driver for the Atheros card (net5211.inf) to get wireless working. I was unable to get compiz-fusion up but did not have much time this weekend. You can see my progress here:

Thank you.

I have this same laptop and you've helped me out.

On my A135-4427 the Wireless chip is an Atheros. The lspci info for it is:

04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5006EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

I put a fresh install of Slackware on it, installed the MadWiFi packages as I read a linuxlaptops and had no problems whatsoever connecting. I have had this about two months now and truth be known I have yet to even plug a hard wired lan connection into it.
