I did check the "F8" key on the laptop to make sure WIFI was enabled. In any case, I can't get LAN or WiFi to work. Now I did plug in a Belkin USB Wireless adapter and I got Win to recognize it with manufacture's driver install. But, I cannot get Mint 17 to recognize the Belkin Adapter. Incidentally, the wifi that is integrated into the Toshiba Laptop (Intel 802.11 b/g/n wireless)could be no good, since the screen is cracked pretty good, thus messing up the wifi receiver/hardware. I never could get it to work, I just relied on the Ethernet connection.
I don't know if this makes any difference; but I had just installed the distro. -MoonOS as a third OS. It turned out to be just too buggy on this system, so I took it off and reformatted that EXT4 partition (that is shared on the drive that Mint is installed on. Since then I lost the Ethernet connection.
