Toshiba M30-344 fullscreen video (mplayer) problem
 

Hi everybody!

After googling for several hours, trying countless Modelines and finally searching this forum my problem still remains:
As mentioned above I've got a Toshiba M30 with Debian testing/unstable installed along with proper Nvidia drivers (version 5336). The TFT's natural resolution of 1280x800 is displayed fine except when trying to watch some video file (regardless if it's a DVD or eg. an avi) in fullscreen mode (currently I'm using mplayer but xine gave me the same probs). If fullscreen mode is active certain artefacts can be seen throughout the screen. These look like horizontal lines in bright colors flickering across the screen.

If you got any solution please notify me here.

If you stretch the video without make it in fullscreen you can see the videos "like" in fullscreen.

That's terrible but the only way I know now.

Indeed, I have found some work around, yet I am still not completely satisfied:

1) You can use "-vo x11 -zoom" - full screen will be working flawlessly (at least as far as I can tell - didn't test ist all that much). Unfortunately x11 will consume more performance than xv which will cause the fan the run while watching dvds. (BTW -vo gl2 works for me too, but consumes even more performance)

2) Searching mplayer mailing lists I found a post that suggested the use of -vo xvidix. Unfortunately this did not at all work (for me) - seems to me like go 5200 is not supported yet.

3) Currently my -mplayer/config contains the following lines:
screenw 1270
screenh 800
Obviously this won't be quite "full"screen since it will leave 10 columns of the desktop on the right hand side, however xv will run quite flawlessly ("quite" because in very bright areas there is still the chance of seeing some glitches)
