Toshiba laptop wireless

I have installed Ubuntu 17.4 64 bit on a Toshoba laptop and during the install the wireless connection was used to download files. However after rebooting Ubuntu cannot connect to the same WiFi connection it previously used to do the install.
Please explain what is wrong & what I may have done wrong.
How can it sometimes work and sometimes fail?

Distributions will sometimes use known safe settings for the installation, then switch to different (usually more optimised) settings post-install. I don't know what defaults Ubuntu's installer uses for wifi, but if you can find out that might give you some clues.

Alternatively, could it have downloaded a more up-to-date (or more specific) driver for your chipset, and installed it late in the install process? If so the older/more generic kernel module might still be installed and available to try.

Never mind. I now see my post is moot.
