I am running a Toshiba Tecra 8000. I recently loaded Mandrake on it and I am unable to connect to the internet. I am a newbie with Linux, I have setup my proxy to autodetect and it still isn't working....what am i doing wrong?

I think that the Proxy setting s are the last thing you want to move .. first ...

How are you connecting, Cable / ADSL / Modem?

Is your hardware being correctly tdetected at boot?

Do you have the appropriate Drivers?

Is the Kernel "Network Enabled" (at least the last thing I remember in Slack is that if you were going to use the netwirkm, you need to choose a specific kernel at installation)?

Do you have connectivity (if you are using a NIC, generally there are LEDs green for physical connectivity and yellow for activity, are those turned on?)
